Waiting and Trusting

Waiting and Trusting. Two of the hardest lessons one can ever learn. Both of which seem to resound all the louder in light of our walk with Christ. Life has, as it seems, given me some real and tangible experience with both of these things; seeing two of my sisters wait in pregnancy and seeing my dad trust God with a scary surgery.
These both seemed to reflect the waiting and trusting Amanda and I have been learning with both OMS and with God. As most of you know we were hoping to leave straight for Hungary just after the wedding in February, but because of some internal needs we have had to put off leaving and wait until Amanda is able to go through CROSS training this July.
To be honest this made us both pretty mad, and frustrated at first. We have the fire burning in us hot and want to get started now! But as a wise professor said to me in college, “pray not for fiery passion because the coals can be soon dampened. Instead pray for a solid bedrock of (zeal) that can not be shaken.”
While our foundation is growing and changing, even hardening I hope, this idol that can form from passion and desire to serve can take our eyes off of the One to be desired and the One we truly serve.
An idol based on good intentions still acts as noose around your neck. So, with this happy and not morbid at all thought here we are waiting and trusting. Learning from Job and from Jonah that our frustrations are heard by God and He will answer them. But also continually learning from Christ that it is not our will that gets to be done but His.
AND SO WITH THAT!
Our First Update as a married couple! We have a lot of new things to discuss, this will be more of a personal update instead of a field one, but there will be some at the end.
First and foremost we got married! On the morning of February 9th, 2019, to be exact. It was a beautiful small wedding and although it was freezing outside our hearts were warmed. We had a great time seeing people from out of town, and for Daniel especially it was great to see some friends.
We hope everyone got one of our Christmas cards, and if you did not as late as it is Merry Christmas (please do let us know so we can update your information!). The Buck side of the family ended up being sick most of the time, but we were still able to celebrate christmas and some birthdays during that time. On the Peters side we were able to celebrate Christmas and had a great time exchanging different pairs of pajamas and eating good food, of course.
Time has not really seemed to slow down since Daniel returned in December. In January, Daniel’s sister Anna got married during a crazy snow storm, which was absolutely beautiful. Then while we were still celebrating that we got married. Finally, the week after we got back from our honeymoon Elizabeth and Michael had a new baby boy! As I write this I think things will start to slow down, but I am not sure how true that will be.
This is what is happening stateside, but back in Hungary things are starting to heat up now that the Christmas season is over.
Klub has started back up and is covering the Fruits of the Spirit. Both Budapest and Vacs continue to grow in strength. English Camp is getting exciting as marketing has started being rolled out. The team is praying for more workers this year as we are trying to incorporate two weeks of camp this year to accommodate for the increase in of kids.
Discipleship continues to grow as more pastors and churches are getting excited about how that could be incorporated into their own communities.
I think that’s just about enough for now. Thank you all for your prayers and encouragement during this busy time! Please continue to pray as we work to be fully funded as a couple and create a strong foundation together before we leave for Hungary.
